I'd just like to modify two verbal slips in my podcast -- one regarding the age of onset of FDR's paralytic illness and the other about the FSA.  FDR actually sustained the illness that paralyzed him not in his early 30's but when he was 39.  Though the illness was diagnosed at the time (and referred to at the Memorial) as poliomyelitis, at least one retrospective study regards a diagnosis of Guillain-Barré syndrome as more probable.  

As for the federal agency that commissioned the Depression era photography mentioned in the podcast, it was the Farm &lt;em&gt;Security &lt;/em&gt;Administration, not the Farm &lt;em&gt;Service &lt;/em&gt;Administration.  (At its inception, the agency was evidently called the Resettlement Administration.  In association with the Depression Era photography, however, it is generally referred to as the "FSA."  The agency is now known as the Farmers Home Administration.)
