Hello Everyone,
Yes - I am back after an unexpected absence so thank you to those of you who have hung in there and who have kept subscribed and welcome to those of you who are joining me for the first time.
This is show #52 of the CLIP Podcast.

Some of you may have heard that I co-organized a Podcamp with Andy from the AndyCast Podcast.
Podcamp EDU held at American University on Dec. 10 focused specifically on intersections between podcasting, new media, and education, soma Side Effects. It was deliberately a smallish conference of 70 or so people, podcasters and non-podcasters, educators and those interested in education and educational issues.
There were some really great sessions and presenters including Andy Carvin from PBS, buspar Side Effects, Joel Witt from Maryland Zoo TV, Steph Stockman. from NASA and Nick Guzman and Rebeca Logan who founded Red Bloguera, home of the first Spanish language podcast. There were so many amazing presenters and participants. Soma Side Effects, Weeks after the event, Andy and I continue to find blog posts, twitter tweets and other online conversations regarding the success of PodcampEDU. Nick Guzman referred to the event as a golden opportunity, Chris Brogan and Whitney Hoffman both blogged about PodcampEDU type venues as the future of podcamp. I believe this was the first podcamp with a very specific focus on the ways in which social media technology can be used as tools in educational settings. It was a great opportunity to think about what these technologies can afford teaching and learning and in terms of critical literacy, a great opportunity to think about how social media can be used as tools in our critical literacy work, soma Side Effects. This podcast, CLIP podcast, is an example of how a social media tool can be used to do critical literacy work. In the case of CLIP, I’m using podcasting as a tool to make accessible critical literacy issues and demonstrations of critical literacy practice. So social media does not constitute critical literacy but social media has vast potential for furthering critical literacy work.
I believe it would be useful for us to think about Lankshear and Knobel’s distinction between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0
They begin by saying that we need not only to think about new technologies but also new ethos, a new way of thinking about and being with new technologies, Buying effexor. Soma Side Effects, A Web1.0 Mindset focuses on the question how do I technologize my existing practice. Tools to do this include more traditional websites, Ofoto, or Brittanica Online. A Web2.0 Mindset asks the question what might new technologies afford the work I do. Tools to do this include, podcasting, blogging, flickr and so forth. Discount flomax Without Prescription, So, to shift mindsets we need to first consider what technology can afford the particular work we are doing rather than finding ways to technologize our existing classroom practice. At PodcampEDU we had a collection of presenters who created spaces for participants to engage in this shifting of mindsets if they hadn’t done so already.
Andy and I will begin to start releasing audio of the presentations from Podcamp EDU as soon as possible so keep tabs on that.
