Tech Glitch

Posted on Monday 12 February 2007

Well, I went to sleep last night thinking all was well with Tudley but we seem to have run into an unexpected technology glitch. We’re on it and hopefully will have Tudley on air asap! Please check back throughout the day!

Thanks so much for listening.

    Dear Vivian,

All of us in our 2nd grade class are looking at your podcast site. We noticed on your map of the world that Antartica is missing. Do you think there are listeners there?

What an excellent question. I think I will write to the clustr map folks to ask them about ‘missing Antarctica’ or if you would rather do it then please feel free to act on this.

    Can’t wait to see you!

    Hello Bailey’s M-1 2nd Grade Class,

I actually have an answer to your question about the lack of Internet traffic on the CLIP map for Antarctica.

It seems that the Internet connection in the Antarctic is very very slow…in fact the are only able to get “dial-up” speeds…This means that they can only have enough bandwidth to be able to check e-mail and are not able to use a browser to visit any web sites, like the CLIP website.

In fact, a fellow podcaster was asking us podcasters to send CD’s and MP3 files to the only radio station in Antarctica so that the people living down in Antarctica could have something to listen to besides the wind and the penguins.

    Dear Vivian and Andy,

Thank you for writing us back. Do you know any way we could help Antartica get in touch with us and see our Podacast? We thought of our podcast name today! 100% Kids. We are REALLY excited. Vivian come see us! We have lots of cool stuff.

    Love, Julia

    Hi Julia
I’m excited to see you posting on my show site! Thank you for this. I think one way we can help Antarctica is to make CD’s for them once we have enough audio and images. I love the name you chose. Now that you have a name I can create the site. So start thinking of how you want the banner to look. My banner has some kids drawings for example. It’s the heading on the web page.

I wanted to come see you today but the weather is bad and I think it’s supposed to be bad tomorrow. Can I come see you on Friday? By then maybe you can think of what you want to say on our first recording and I’ll bring what we need to record.

So, you’ll need the script to read and an image to post to the site. How does that sound? I think for the first one you should think about how to let your listeners know what you are doing with your podcast. Why are you podcasting? Who should listen to the show? How will you go about doing the show? Does that make sense?

I can’t wait to see you!

I may just have to do a special show on the clip podcast just for all my second grade friends!

    I’ll see you soon.
