IRA Regional Conference in Hawaii

Posted on Sunday 19 November 2006

Aloha to my colleagues and friends from Hawaii as well as conference participants who attended my session on Thursday afternoon.

The audio from my talk will be posted within the next couple of days. We just have to clean it up and do some editorializing.

In the meantime I invite you to work your way through this site to check out what is available for your use.

A special thankyou once again to Liana Honda for inviting me as a featured speaker. I had a wonderful time!

I’ve been enjoying listening to your podcast programs and am excited about the REAL ways teachers, parents, and students are LIVING critical literacy in their daily lives! Thanks so much for sharing this amazing resource Vivian! You bring hope into the lives of many — particularly those who are marginalized and gazed upon as “others”. Mahalo nui for your brilliant mind, vision, and positive vibes :-) Anna

Mahalo to YOU, Vivian, for joining us in Hawai’i. Your talk was fabulous and I’m so glad you recorded it so others can listen in. It was great seeing you again and “talking story” with you. Meeting Andy and TJ was a highlight. I look forward to more conversations, especially about critical literacy in Hawai’i, for our Hawaiian families in our schools. “Save our school, save it now…” is still ringing in my ears…”save our people, save us now…”

Take care and see you soon!
    Liana

    Aloha Anna and Liana,
I truly believe who we are has much to do with the company we keep and I am certainly very thankful for having had the opportunity to get to know you better, to feel your passion and to call you my friends. Mahalo to both of you! I look forward to when we meet again :-)

    Salamat to you both!
    hugs
