Hi Vivian and Sarah,
Sarah, what stands out most for me in your commentary is how it doesn’t matter where we go or what type of literacy form is being used, we are always influenced. No text is neutral. The more I study and keep my eyes and ears open to all that surrounds us, the more I feel a responsibility to myself and especially children who are trying to make early sense of the world, to question and to remember we are being positioned to believe someone else’s ideas and thoughts. That’s hard! Wouldn’t it be great if every day wrapped up perfectly –all lose ends tied together just right? Then again, that would take away from the great challenges that life presents us.
Thanks for your words, Sarah and Vivian. And I really liked that song too!
Thanks Carol. Critical Literacy as a way of being definitely permeates the day doesn’t it? Looking forward to playing your voice mail!

We vote that you post at 9pm because it’s bad enough having to wait till Monday without having to wait till 10:30.
