Has Apple has truly gone off the deep end?
The folks at Mobile Podcast have been served a letter from Apple basically telling them to shut down their operation because they have the word “POD” in their “PODCAST Ready” name.
From their site, they have the actual letter that Apple sent them.
As I read it, Apple claims that there could be confusion with consumers that ipod and pod mean the same thing.
They clear state all their trademark claims on the word ipod but not a single reference number for the word pod.
A good friend of mine, Bob Goyetche pretty much already wrote what I was thinking….I too am not a fan of the term podcasting.
Wouldn’t this be a great time for a new name?
How about “Portable Pre-recorded Radio Style Audio that you don’t need an iPod to listen too”?
