Blog Tag…I’m it? @##$%#$#

Andy March 29th, 2007

Well as luck would have it 2 awesome people tagged me in the lastest frenzy for blogging…called the blog tag. This time around, both fine gentlemen have asked for my top 7 songs. However, rather than create 2 posts, I decided to combine both requests into a single post…you know…kill 2 blog posts with a single post…the classic tactic.

What I’ve done is create a lists of songs that have very special meaning to me. Although not required from the blog tag, I will give a little explanation as to why each tune is special to me. I’ve also create 2 distinct lists. The first represents me as just some guy. The second represents me as a daddy. OK

Note: Bob and Daryl, you can fight it out at PAB2007 for which ever list you want to be associated with.. :)

Just Some Guy List

1.) Be my yoko ono - Barenaked Ladies(BNL)
2.) The king of bedside manor - BNL
3.) If I had a million dollars - BNL
4.) Baby one more time - Britney Spears
5.) Let’s Get it Started - Black Eye Peas
6.) Ragga Ragga - Red Plastic Bag
7.) The Saga Begins - Weird Al
8.) Dancing Queen - Abba
9.) Mamma Mia - Abba

All the Barenaked Ladies songs listed I’ve chosen because they all make me laugh…and I’ve actually met Ed Roberts…so…the whole Gordon Album holds a special place for me. Baby One More Time was the song that started my crush on Britney Spears…2 husbands, 2 children and a bald head later…the crush is over…Let’s Get It Started just makes me want to bounce around everytime I hear that bass line starting. Ragga Ragga is an obscure song that I heard on a Caribbean cruise and every time I hear it, I can feel the Caribbean sun biting my skin. Weird Al’s The Saga Begins hits me on 2 levels…as a Star Wars fan it’s an amazing re-telling of the story and as a Don McLean fan he nailed it! And what kid growing up in the ’70’s didn’t have some Abba tracks to listen to.

As a Daddy List

1.) Real Gone Cheryl Crow
2.) Behind the Clouds brad paisley
3.) Life is a Highway - rascal flatts
4.) Route 66 - john mayer
5.) Beyond the Sea - robbie williams
6.) Rock a hula baby - colin raye & the jourdanaires
7.) Little Grass Shack - Lisa Loeb
8.) Somewhere over the rainbow/what a wonderful world - Israel “Iz” Kamakawiwo’ole
9.) Finland Fisch fischlapping dance - Spamalot

Songs 1-4 are all from the movie Cars, which my son has totally fallen in love with. He sings along with these songs and some of the movie dialog…I think he’s too smart for me. Beyond the Sea is from the movie Finding Nemo and that song was one of the only things I could sing shortly after he was born that would help calm him down if he was upset or not able to sleep. Numbers 6,7 & 8 are all Hawaiian themed songs. Hawaii will alway be in my heart as this is where the little boy was conceived and these songs will forever remind me of that. The Spam-A-Lot song is the first song that my son “got it” about music and humour. He still smiles when I play that song.

Ok…so I’ve gone over…so sue me….get over it… ;-)

As is customary, I need to add links to the others that were in my blog tag so…

From Daryl N. Cognito:
All Axis AJ, Eban Crawford, and Truth Seeker Dani.

From Bob Goyetche: Mr Bruce Murray, Canadian PM Stephen Harper and Bob’s awesome wife Cat.

And now for my prey….I’ll pick my amazing wife Vivian, my podcasting pal Chris Moody and the scally wag Shane Potvin.

Ok..that’s it…my work here is done…

Enjoy!
